The Old School Ceilidh Band
We at The Old School Band are a well established and experienced ceilidh band in the North West of England. We specialise in doing events for ceilidhs, hoedowns and barndances. We use a variety of instruments such as: the melodeon, guitar, banjo, bouzouki, saxophone, tenor guitar, and mandolin – the Band’s foot tapping sound makes events that extra bit special. Our band is happy to travel and play across the North West including: Lancashire, Cheshire, Yorkshire, Cumbria, etc. Typical towns we have played in before include Southport, Manchester, Liverpool, Preston, Chorley, Blackburn, St Annes, Blackpool, Kendal, Lancaster, Wigan, Clitheroe, Garstang, Darwen, Ashton Under Lyne, Bolton, Arnside, Borrowdale, Samlesbury, Slaidburn and Ormskirk.

Our main aim is to ensure that everyone has a good time! We can guarantee that if you use us as your entertainment, you will have an enjoyable, inclusive and fun-packed evening of jigs, reels and hornpipes suitable for any occasion. To make the dances that little bit easier, we have our own experienced dance callers to explain and lead the dances throughout the evening for you if needed and we are also just as happy to play for absolute beginners as well as seasoned dancers.

With our fantastic band, we will make your big occasion a success! whether that is a wedding, anniversary, birthday party, fundraiser, corporate event or just a general knees up!

Planning your wedding is one of the most stressful and challenging tasks especially when choosing the right entertainment for the evening reception. You need to find someone that will appeal to both the younger and older generations, well the Old School Band ceilidh is the perfect answer to this dilemma because:

  • Our music appeals to everyone of all ages – no one will feel excluded
  • The band isn’t too loud – you are still able to talk to people
  • The band isn’t too quiet either – we can still rock with the best of them!
  • All instruments are amplified to a perfect balance
  • No previous ceilidh experience is necessary
  • It gets both families and all guests involved
  • It makes it easy to mix with others
  • It makes great memories to cherish forever

In our experience, the most successful wedding evenings are when the ceilidh is the sole event. However, we know that quite a lot of couples feel they would like a disco too, so don’t worry! We have done many successful events where the ceilidh opens the evening and the disco closes it. The most important thing to us is that you have the evening you want!

Please do remember that we do have many years of experience of playing at weddings and can help with any advice and guidance in planning your special day. So get in contact today!
